It started with a parrot.
A small Vancouver atelier, a curious African Grey, and a quiet conviction that natural jade should be shown for what it actually is.
Our shop is named after Molly — an African Grey parrot with a careful eye for shiny pebbles. On hikes she would tug at our pockets for the prettiest stones, and at home she liked to perch on a hand wearing one of our bracelets. Her instincts shaped ours.
We started Molly Gemstone because we kept seeing the same problem in the online jade market: stones treated, dyed, or filled with polymer being sold as "natural." Buyers paying premium prices for pieces that would discolour, crack, or fail under any reputable lab test. We wanted to do this differently.
What we do
We hand-curate Type A jadeite from two of the most important jade-producing regions in the world: Burma (Myanmar) for classic warm greens, lavenders, and traditional carving work; and Guatemala for the rare blue-water and ocean-blue jades that have only recently entered the international market.
Every piece is finished, photographed, and packaged in our Vancouver studio. Nothing leaves until it has been inspected by us personally.

The way we price
We believe in fair, transparent pricing. Our prices already include what most online jade sellers reserve as "discount margin" — typically 20% or more above what we charge. That means our occasional sales are real, not inflated retail theatre, and the day-to-day price you see is what we consider the genuine value of the piece.
